Healthifeet (previously now known as HealthiBetic) foot cream contains a patented transdermal preparation of L-Arginine, the substance which normally maintains local blood flow. In diabetics and some others, the local blood flow is inadequate due to lack of sufficient L-Arginine in the tissue. For this reason, Healthifeet Foot Cream restores L-Arginine levels in the foot tissue, restoring blood flow.
Blood flow in the tissue is regulated by an enzyme called nitric oxide synthase (NOS). This function of nitric oxide was the subject of research that won the 1998 Nobel Prize in Medicine. Nitric oxide, once formed, activates an enzyme which forms cyclic-GMP. Cyclic-GMP relaxes the smooth muscle lining blood vessels and allows natural blood flow levels to be restored.
